Join the discussion on our digital future

The digital transformation affects us as individuals and societies, all over the world. What research, development and innovation will guide the way to our digital future? And how digital do we want to be? These questions will be discussed October 19–20 at Stockholm University.

In 2022, the yearly conference Digitalize in Stockholm will be organized at Stockholm University for the first time, at Campus Kista to be more specific. This is where the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences is situated.

Jelena Zdravkovic is Head of Department and a member of the Executive Committee at Digital Futures, the organization behind the conference.

“I am very happy that DSV is hosting the event this year. Digitalize in Stockholm is an exciting and vibrant conference focusing on diverse aspects of digital transformation. New results from both academia and the industry will be discussed, by established researchers and experts, as well as by younger researchers and practitioners”, says professor Jelena Zdravkovic.

After two years of pandemic, this year’s hybrid conference provides great opportunities for mingle and discussions. There are a few seats left for anyone who wants to join in Kista. It is also possible to follow the event on a digital platform together with participants from all over the world.

AI is of course a highly relevant topic in society

Machine learning, health, smart societies and sustainability are some of the themes of the conference.

“We will discuss a broad spectrum of topics in digital transformation. AI is of course a highly relevant topic in society, and also very visible both in the conference programme and in our research here at DSV. Designing new system architectures, risk management, safety and integrity, will also be discussed during the two conference days”, says Jelena Zdravkovic.

What do you look forward to the most?

“There are many interesting keynotes to look forward to. For example, professor Alan Sanfey will talk about understanding social choices, sharing insights from decision neuroscience. I am also looking forward to hearing Tuomas Pöysti’s keynote on governing and designing system architectures. He will present how humans can live and work together with intelligent systems, as a part of a wider socio technical system.”

Who do you think should participate in Digitalize in Stockholm?

“Everyone who is interested in the times that we live in, and who wants to influence our digital future. With the exciting program that lies ahead of us, we hope to gather a large and mixed crowd from academia, industry, and the public sector.”

“It is vital to be able to share knowledge from these different domains, and to discuss questions that are of great importance to our future society. Digitalize in Stockholm addresses these issues”, says Jelena Zdravkovic.
