Research group Network Language and Power

Language and power as a field of study has a long tradition, but it has become more relevant in recent years due to the rise of populism and societies becoming increasingly polarised.

Stockholm University has much competence in the field, which has for example led to the creation of the theme Language and power within The Doctoral School in the Humanities (more information in Swedish on the Faculty of Humanities' webpage) and the network Språk och politik (Language and politics, more information in Swedish on their website).

We have brought together researchers from different disciplines with varying theoretical and methodological perspectives in order to establish language and power as a leading research environment. The researchers represent eight departments in the Faculty of Humanities. In the coming years we aim to develope a leading research environment with societal relevance by publishing our research in a variety of channels, acquiring external funding and collaborating with society. This will be achieved by creative interdisciplinary cooperation.
