Research group Victimological Research Group

The Victimology Research Group was established in 2021 by researchers at the Department of Criminology at Stockholm University. The group members' research concerns victims of crime from different perspectives and through different empirical materials.

The Victimological Research Group provides members with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of victimhood based on different scientific issues and theoretical approaches. The focus of several of the group's research projects is on the processes that construct and manifest victims and victimisation. The extent and nature of victimisation is also of great interest to the research group, as is the focus on different types of crime and risk factors from a victimological perspective.

The legal system's contacts with victims, the impact of criminal policy, and the environment's responses to victimisation are also studied. Safety and crime prevention measures are also included in the group's research. The issues raised within the framework of the theme are not only national, but the research is also conducted with an international flavour.
