Our research includes, for example, paleoceanography, paleoclimatology and the history and dynamics of the marine cryosphere (glaciers and ice sheets that come in contact with the ocean, sea ice, submarine permafrost and gas hydrates). We also use bogs and lake sediments as paleoclimate archives. Geophysical methods are widely applied in our research, with a focus on geophysical mapping of Earth's surface landforms and sub-surface geology. Numerical models are employed to better understand processes in the Earth system on all time scales. The Marine Geology group is particularly active with research concerning the marine environments in the Polar regions and the Baltic Sea, although other areas of the World ocean are also covered.
There are no research project connections.
