Research project Masculinity in Nordic gender equality policy, 2019-2024
This project explores how questions about men and masculinity are articulated in contemporary Nordic gender equality policy, in the form of reports published by the Nordic council of ministers, 2019-2024.

In recent years, the concept of “masculinity” has emerged in gender equality policy discourse in the Nordic countries. It is used in twelve reports published by the Nordic Council of Ministers, 2019-2024. The aim of this project is to explore what it means that issues about men and masculinity are articulated in these reports.
The analysis focuses on how conceptualizations relate to contemporary scholarly discussions; on how problems, causes and solutions are constructed; and on where the emphasis is placed when the reports address men and masculinity.
The report is financed by Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK), which is a collaborative body under the Nordic Council of Ministers.
