Research project Leadership autonomy in inclusion and school improvement
The overall aim of the research project is to develop new knowledge about the balance between national and local governance, and the actual autonomy of school leaders in the three countries. By school leaders, we mean executive heads of school and education in municipalities and principals at school level.
Education today is characterized by a high degree of complexity and involves a large number of students, parents, teachers and different interest groups. School leaders must therefore be able to manage multiple interests and perspectives in addition to different forms of national and local governance. This means that they are subject to the influence of many different groups in their leadership.
In particular, we focus on the scope for leaders to address issues of inclusion and special educational needs and school development.
