Latin American studies is an interdisciplinary research area with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.
The region’s countries are analyzed from historic, social, political, economic and cultural perspectives. Nordic Institute of Latin American Studies (NILAS) is the home to a number of research projects divided into six broader areas of investigation: Global Latin American Studies; Development Studies; Democracy; Social movements and inequalities; Gender studies and Environmental Humanities.
