We study new literature and older works based on several theoretical orientations: discourse analysis, historical analysis of ideas, gender theory, close reading and translation theory. Our research covers the early modern era, the 19th century, Polish modernism and postmodernism, as well as contemporary literature. One of the topics that engages the researchers is culture and identity issues in Central Europe. Polish cultural heritage in Sweden and abroad is another important area of research.
Our researchers participate in research networks associated with a number of international projects.
Our doctoral students are engaged in translation studies and book history research.
At the higher seminars in Polish, ongoing or recently completed scientific projects are presented. The seminars are often attended by external researchers affiliated with the department.
Stockholm University has the country's only professorship in Polish language and literature.
