The University's research encompasses theoretical and experimental aspects of molecular structures and fundamental processes in a wide range of contexts—from the properties of individual molecules and pure water to astrobiology, heterogeneous catalysis, and energy conversion.
The research focuses on fundamental aspects of the structure, reaction dynamics, and kinetics of molecules in various environments and their interaction with electrons and electromagnetic fields. Research areas include molecular astrophysics and biology, the structure and dynamics of water, ultrafast dynamics of molecules in the gas phase and surface reactions, electron-molecular-ion interactions, theory of primary chemical reactions, and energy-related research on dye-sensitized solar cells and fuel cells.
