Research subject Health (In)equity

The study of health inequity, or health inequalities, is concerned with how health and life expectancy differ by social characteristics, in particular by social class, education, income/wealth and migration status.

Life expectancy differences between educational groups in Sweden have increased during the last 4 decades; women and men of low education are increasingly lagging behind.

Social differentiation is tightly linked to heath differentiation. Understanding this link is the main purpose of the research and teaching at the department.
