    The Swedish island of Gotland faces limited capacity in groundwater reservoirs and increased demand during tourist season. Desalination from the Baltic Sea is a promising method for water supply which will benefit from a forecast of harmful algae blooms.

    I am fascinated by the spatial and eco-evolutionary dynamics of host-parasite interactions. We do lack some generality though: many of the existing studies have (for good reasons!) focused on single pathogen species, and on non-systemic diseases with high extinction-colonization rates.

    Parasitic symbionts play a major role in the functioning and equilibrium of carbon flow in marine food webs. But the extent and strength of zooplankton parasites are still poorly known, mainly because they are hard to detect due to their small size and mostly hidden within their hosts, and consequently frequently overseen.

    In this project we study habitat preferences, population dynamics, phenology and host plant preferences in six co-occurring species of burnet moths in southern Sweden. Yearly inventories have been carried out since 2012 and currently include about 100 sites with burnet moths.
