Stockholms Resilience Centre researcher Beatrice Crona is among eight Swedish researchers to be selected as fellows to the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation (SIGHT).

She has been identified as "an upcoming leader in global health" with the potential to serve as a change agent and ”lead the progress towards global health equity and the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Beatrice Crona is one of the leaders of the Patterns of the Anthropocene research stream at the Stockholm Resilience Centre. She also leads a research programme Global Economic Dynamics and the Biosphere at the Royal Academy of Science with a focus on global economic dynamics and the biosphere. As such, a large part of her more recent work has focused on understanding different types of emerging global connectivities and their effects on social-ecological outcomes at multiple scales.

SIGHT was established in January 2017 at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. It’s purpose is to promote an interdisciplinary approach, to strengthen and bridge Swedish research and education, and to provide a scientific basis for national and transnational collaborative policy work, in the field of global health. The leadership programme will be implemented in close collaboration with the Young Academy of Sweden, formerly part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The idea is to promote an emerging generation of global health leaders, based at research institutions in Sweden.

"Through the commitment of its participants, the SIGHT Fellows Programme in Global Health Leadership will give Sweden a mechanism by which the most current interdisciplinary innovative thinking will be part of governance and actions for health nationally and globally,” the institute says on its website.
