Research subject Mobility and Migration
Much of this research is characterized by influential methodological and conceptual developments focusing on diverse approaches such as autoethnography and migration brokerage and infrastructure.
Research on mobility and migration is one of the department’s major strengths. Most notably, a focus on transnational migration is evident in faculty research interests in low-skilled documented labour migration in and from Asia, refugee migration to Europe from Africa and the Middle East, the post-deportation experiences of rejected asylum seekers, retiree migration and caravan tourism from northern to southern Europe, elite migration to Sweden, and migrant literature. Much of this research is characterized by influential methodological and conceptual developments focusing on diverse approaches such as autoethnography and migration brokerage and infrastructure. At the centre of all this work is a commitment to ethnographic research.
