About the course
The course deals with using plants to clean up contaminated land, water and air, in a process known as "phytoremediation". It also deals with using plants to map contaminated areas using biomarkers and toxicity testing. The course aims to provide the fundamental knowledge that is needed for an understanding of why certain plants work well in these contexts, while others do not. The course also discusses various techniques in this area, and applies them in practice. Various techniques are evaluated in field trials. We can see that the field of "phytoremediation" has opened a new career opportunity for biologists. The course is given in the period March - June.
