Conservation of populations: project
In this course, you will learn about practical analyses of small and declining populations through an individual project that includes planning, executing and interpreting data for populations of conservation concern. Through this work you will gain understanding fundamental for practical conservation.
Many wild populations are today experiencing drastic declines in population size or shifting geographic distribution. Understanding the factors influencing the dynamics of these populations is a fundamental part of practical conservation.
This course will provide you with experience of using relevant tools to address issues regarding conservation of small populations. The project will focus on key processes such as population dynamics, demographic stochasticity, inbreeding depression and genetic drift.
