Finnish, Literature before 1905
The aim of the course is to provide you with thorough knowledge about Finnish literary history before 1905.
The course is an obligatory part of the Master’s Programme in Literature with a specialization in Finnish Literature. It can also be a stand-alone course or part of the Master’s Programme in Language Science with a Specialisation in Finnish Linguistics.

Course structure
The course consists of two modules.
Modules
Literary Studies and Literature before 1905, 5 credits
The module discusses Finnish literary history and Finnish literature before 1905 through modern literary theories.
Literature before 1905, 2,5 credits
The module consists of analysing Finnish literature before 1905 with the help of modern literary theories.

Assessment
Literary Studies and Literature before 1905, 5 credits
The module is examined on the basis of a take-home examination.
Literature before 1905, 2,5 credits
The module is examined on the basis of a oral exam.
