Introduction to Formal Semantics

  • 7.5 credits

This course introduces formal semantics for natural languages. To give a formal semantics - also called a model theoretic semantics - for a natural language, or a fragment thereof, consists in showing how to derive truth-conditions of sentences systematically (compositionally) from semantic properties of their immediate parts, on the basis of a syntactic analysis of the structures of sentences.

Further course information will appear soon on this page. Until then, information can be found on the department website.
