Cartography and Map Design
You learn how a map should be designed to fulfil its purpose.
The theoretical part of the course deals with design, typography, colours, layout, generalization, graphic technique and map law. Substantial parts of the course deals with practical exercises and assignments. After completion of the course you will be able to organise map production and make professional maps, both advanced printed map products and maps as illustrations in scientific reports.
You should purchase a student license of the drawing software OCAD to perform these exercises.
The course is a elective component of the Bachelor's Programme in Earth Science, Distance Learning, 180 credits and it can also be taken as an individual course.
