Physical Geography, Degree Project
The course consists of an individual degree project in Physical Geography, and you will learn to plan a larger project and conducting it using relevant methods.
You will get training in collecting, process, critically examine and present your data. An important part of the course is also to put your work in perspective with respect to current scientific discussions and knowledge. You will present your work as a written scientific thesis and during an oral presentation. The module The scientific method 1.5 hp is obligatory for obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree, see Modules.
The course (elective course) is part of the Bachelor's Programme in Earth Science, Distance Learning. There is also a degree project of 30 credits Physical Geography, Degree Project (GE6020).
For admission to the course GE6019 Natural Geography, degree project, 15 credits, you must have completed the course Earth Science - Specialisation (GE5040) at semester / course start. The course Earth Science by Distance Learning - Specialisation (GE5040) is given each semester and you can study the course semester before you start your degree project.
From Autumn Term 2023
If you want to study both Earth Science - Specialisation (GE5040) and Physical Geography, degree project (GE6019) use Application code 100% period A-B in combination with Physical Geography, Degree Project (GE6019) 100% period C-D.

The scientific method 1.5 hp
The scientific method 1.5 hp is obligatory for obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree at the Science faculty at Stockholm University. The setup for the course module is parallel and independent of the bachelor thesis. It is therefore possible to take the course module either before, during or after starting your thesis work. A completed course module is required to be able to finish a Bachelor’s degree project.The module runs four times per year, "Kurstillfälle 3" is avalible as a distance module. This instance will be run by Zoom and English:

Course literature
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
The required reading is based on scientific publications and reports in the relevant subject area identified by the student through literature searches and literature provided by the principal supervisor and/or by the assistant supervisor.
