The course addresses marine geological mapping with geophysical methods and sediment sampling.
The course includes theories on the geophysical mapping methods applied, a field mapping component, geophysical data post-processing and geological interpretation. There is a specific focus on mapping of the unconsolidated seafloor sediments and bottom topography using acoustic methods including single and multibeam echosounders and side-scan sonar.
Field trip with Research Vessel Electra
Fall term 20 | The course is planned to be carried out through lectures given on campus, which at the same time are filmed so that they can be viewed over internet off campus. Some lectures may be given entirely through the web. Exercises that depend on infrastructure, such as labs on campus, as well as the field moment with the Research Vessel Electra are planned to be carried out with smaller groups to allow for physical distancing.
One written exam, and a written report from the field trip.

It's important that all students complete the course evaluations after each course, it gives the Department the opportunity to improve the courses' quality.
The course evaluation is composed of a number of questions and specific questions for each course. If you, as a student, want to contribute with more course specific questions you may send them to email@example.com.
If you haven't received the course evaluation for your finished course, or if you have other questions regarding course evaluations at IGV please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Course evaluation = student's review of the course
Course report = course leader's reflections about the review
