About the course

The mineralogy moment covers the structure, composition and classification of the most common rock forming minerals and how they can be identified using the optical microscope. The Igneous petrology moment covers the classification of igneous rocks, the interpretation of igneous minerals and textures, and the processes involved in formation of igneous rocks. The metamorphic petrology moment introduces metamorphic textures in hand sample and thin section, how the conditions of metamorphism can be estimated, and the graphical representation of metamorphic rocks.
