Master’s Programme in Language Science with a Specialisation in Swedish as a Second Language
The programme aims at extending and deepening your knowledge in Swedish as a Second Language. It also strengthens your grasp of research methodology, research ethics and your ability to carry out scientific reasoning.
The Master’s Programme in Language Science will deepen and expand your knowledge in the field of your selected study route. You will be trained in independent and critical work on linguistic issues and improve your competence in applying theories and methods on linguistic material of different kinds.
The programme aims to extend and develop your grasp of your chosen field of study: Swedish as a Second Language. It will also strengthen your interdisciplinary knowledge in areas like scientific theory, ethics and research methodology. Your work with the master’s thesis will develop your ability to conduct a linguistic investigation, analyse and discuss your observed data, and produce a scientific text. The programme, which provides detailed knowledge and skills, may serve as preparation for Third Level studies (PhD level) or for a professional career in connection with language.
The training consists of compulsory courses that are common to the whole programme, compulsory courses in your main field of study, as well as optional courses from a pool of courses offered by departments from the Faculty of Humanities.

Swedish as a Second Language - Master Course, 15 ECTS credits (to exit with a Degree of Master of Arts, 60 ECTS credits)

The course English for Academic Research, 7.5 credits, may be taken either as a skill course or an elective course.
