About the course

Purpose and learning objectives

The objective is that the student after the course can explain and present the important methods in geographical information analysis and practically use them in analyses of geographical data and take into account various sorts of errors, and furthermore critically review and analyze projects that have been conducted using GIS.

Content and teaching methods

The course treats various methods for geographical information analysis. Different data structures such as raster data and vector data. Focus is on methods for spatial analysis. Methods for data capture and visualization of spatial data are also discussed during the course. The main work is project using GIS. In seminaries the project and geographical information is penetrated.
