Linguistic Theory and Methodology

The course offers a wide overview over current theories and methods used within linguistic research as well as practical experience in applying those methods to linguistic data.

Welcome to the Department of Linguistics!

Registration

All students at Stockholm University must register prior to every semester. Registration will be open in August and you will find more information on our website ling.su.se/english.
Note! If you are conditionally accepted to a course, you need to prove your eligibility with the required documents.

Due to the Corona pandemic, our courses will be given online this fall. Exceptions are made for a few courses that will have certain elements on campus. Read more

Welcome activities

Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.
Your department may also organise activities for welcoming international students. More information will be provided by your specific department.

By discussing concrete research questions from a theoretical and methodological perspective, this course offers a broad overview of current theories and methods in linguistic research. Students will also have the opportunity to delve deeper into selected theories and methods, and apply these to actual linguistic data.

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
