Communicating Environmental Science

Are you interested in environmental communication? During the course, you will learn the basics of effective scientific communication. You will acquire techniques to reach different audiences with messages grounded in scientific information.

Welcome activities

Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.
Your department may also organise activities for welcoming international students. More information will be provided by your specific department.

Communicating Environmental Science

You will design various communication products for different audiences throughout the course and gain further insights into the process by providing feedback on others' products.

The goal of the course is to combine a solid theoretical foundation in scientific communication with ample practical experience in creating communication products for diverse audiences.

The knowledge you acquire will be valuable regardless of your future endeavors, as effective communication is fundamental in all professions.

  • Scientific writing and oral presentation
  • Communicating scientific findings to the surrounding society

    The course is divided into lectures, assignments to be completed at home, and presentations.

    Teaching format

    The course instruction includes lectures, exercises, presentations, and assignments.

    The assessment for the course involves a written scientific report and a successful oral presentation.

    The teachers on the course are researchers at Stockholm University.

    Knowledge assessment is conducted through a written scientific report, oral presentation, and submitted assignments.

  • Schedule

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
  • Course literature

    Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
