Introduction to Psychology as a Science
The course provides an introduction to psychology as a science and subject area, its historical and scientific development as a basis for modern psychology. It is the first course in Psychology I – course package.
The course covers several areas within the subject of psychology, with the aim of demonstrating both its breadth and depth. Areas highlighted are, for example, social psychology, developmental psychology, neuroscience and cognition, biological psychology, clinical psychology, personality, stress and health, and work and organizational psychology.
Furthermore, the focus is particularly on current research within the department's various research divisions. Further in-depth studies are done in a self-selected subject within psychology. An introduction to knowledge/scientific theory and basic concepts and principles in scientific method and statistics, as well as its application in psychological science, are also given.
This is the first course within the Psychology I - Course Package (PS11KP).
