Issues in Language Teaching and Learning
In this course, we study current issues and controversial research in language learning and their implications for language teaching. The course is part of the master's programme in linguistics, but you can also study it as a free-standing course.
In the course we study and discuss current language education research on acquiring and teaching first, second and foreign languages. We also investigate the relationship between problematic areas of language education research and teaching practices in different contexts. With current language education research as a point of departure, we analyse and compare policy documents from different language teaching contexts.

Course structure
Once the course is in progress, the web-based learning platform Athena will be used for communication, learning activities and course assignments.
Teaching format
Teaching comprises online seminars. The course is taught in English and all scheduled activities are obligatory.
Assessment
The course is examined by oral presentations and written assignments.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course. -
