Manne Siegbahn (1886-1978) won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in X-ray spectroscopy. The Manne Siegbahn compound, built in 1936, included both his private home (which now houses the faculty club) and the laboratories, which attracted gifted researchers and technicians who appreciated the collaboration, freedom, and excellent instruments the institute offered.  The villa remained his private house until his death, and covered passageways still connect the villa with the old laboratories.

The Faculty Club was founded in 2003 by then-Vice Chancellor Gustaf Lindenkrona with the aim to “encourage research and education at Stockholm University through a congenial society that would strengthen the ties between teachers, researchers and staff at Stockholm University.”

The six honorary members include Gustaf Lindencrona, Örjan Skeppstedt, Karl-Axel Boström, Maria Ibsén, Monica Svensson and Susanne Lundgren. Click for a list of current board members.
