The project is called CALIE: Sweden-USA Project for Collaboration, Academic Leadership and Innovation in Higher Education and is a collaborative project between the administration at Lund University, University of Gothenburg, Stockholm University and Uppsala University.
The universities have joined forces to explore the topics of academic leadership and innovation in higher education. The project aims to strengthen the university’s capacity to meet long-term challenges by developing strategic tools to facilitate the renewal of education and develop academic leadership.

Joint workshops

Through joint workshops and seminars with Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington, participants will share experiences and good examples with the ambition to create the conditions for further development and collaboration.
The project also aims to influence Swedish higher education policy and to be a source of inspiration for all Swedish, and even international, universities.
The newly launched website – calieproject.com – presents the project and the project participants. The website will be the main channel for reaching out with lessons learned from the project, and with news within the projects’ focus areas. CALIE Papers will contain analyzes, reports and case studies that can serve as tools in the continuous development of higher education institutions. On the website it is possible to subscribe to receive information about new publications, opportunities to participate, and special announcements.
The project is funded by Vinnova – Sweden’s Innovation Agency – and runs from April 2019 to August 2021.
