Dr. Martin Karlsson successfully defended his PhD thesis "Governing the news - A study of problems and solutions in Swedish public service broadcasting news and policy between 1954 and 2015" at Stockholm University today February 10, 2023. The examination committee announced its unanimous verdict in the afternoon, saying that he had passed. Senior Lecturer Simon Dawes, Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, was his External reviewer.

Marine ecologist Henrik Svedäng: "The eel seems to be falling victim to a culture war"

Sweden opposes the European Commission's proposal for further restrictions on fishing for the endangered eel, arguing that Swedish eel fishing is a cultural heritage. "The endangered eel is being reduced to a prop in a sentimental tableau about a soon-to-be-defunct eel fishery," says fish researcher Henrik Svedäng at Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre.

In a new study from Stockholm University and several US universities, the researchers found that children in the US aged 9-13 from different social classes spent roughly the same number of hours in front of a screen, on average. The main purpose of the project 'The Histories of the New American Cinema Expositions in Europe, 1964 and 1967-1968: The Emergence and Diversity of European Experimental Film Cultures' is to write the histories of the New American Cinema (NAC) Expositions in Europe during the years 1964 and 1967-68.

The project "The transition of Global Fashion Industry since the MFA Phase-out, c. 2005–" is led by prof. Klas Nyberg and includes Nefeli Theiakou's PhD project as an individual study. The project examines the globalization of the fashion industry after 2005, when free trade was introduced and started to affect the global trade in textiles and clothing.
