Abstract

Films (movies, tv shows, etc) are weird things. Two people can see the same film by watching different screenings of different physical things. In that sense, films are multiple artworks.

But I argue that they are quite different from other, better studied, multiple artworks like plays or pieces of written music. I argue that existing views about what films are all fail, but each contains a part of the truth, which I draw on to develop my own view, which is that films are multiply constituted artifacts.
