Gas chromatography is used in our geochemistry lab for the identification and quantification of methane and carbon dioxide via the FID detector and nitrous oxide and oxygen using the ECD detector. Samples types commonly analysed (but not restricted to) are gases from air, water, sediment and porewater samples. The FID detector has a detection range to 0.1 ppm and the ECD detector to 10 ppt depending on the sample type and matrix.
