sand and a crab

This international project aims to correlate the basement geology of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. It is funded by the Swedish International Developmental Agency (Middle East and North Africa) and its Swedish, Egyptian, and Jordanian partners, together with the involvement of American, Norwegian, German, Australian, and Saudi Arabian colleagues, are investigating the Neoproterozoic geologic evolution of the Red Sea region. This involves studying igneous (plutons, dikes and opholites), sedimentary (BIFs and diamictites), and metamorphic rocks, and associated mineralization. The project runs for 5 years (2008–2012) and involves over 20 persons from 8 different countries.
