The course serves as an introduction to some important ideas and thinkers in Swedish history, from the country's position as a great power in the 17th century until the 20th century welfare state. Themes include science, women's rights and Swedish conceptions of nature as well as the work and ideas of world-renowned Swedish writers Selma Lagerlöf and Astrid Lindgren.
