Formalisms have emerged in a broad field between aesthetics and science. Historically, musical aesthetic formalism was pioneering, but the formalisms that have developed in connection with other art forms display not only similarities but also differences. The course is centred on a selection of classics from different areas, with a focus on common key themes and approaches, as well as differences in approach and ideology.

This course starts in the second half of the semester.
