Torsten Persson joins leading economists at the 2026 IEA World Congress
The 21st World Congress of the International Economic Association (IEA), will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, 22–26 June 2026.

He joins a distinguished panel of plenary speakers alongside internationally acclaimed economists Esther Duflo, Elhanan Helpman, Oleg Itskhoki, Jean Tirole, and Hélène Rey.
The IEA World Congress is one of the most prominent gatherings in the economics profession, bringing together over 800 economists from around the world. More than 400 papers will be presented in academic sessions, alongside keynote lectures and policy panels featuring leading scholars and policymakers.
The main theme of the 2026 Congress is “Contrasting World Visions: Globalism vs. Nationalism, Multilateralism vs. Bilateralism, and Democracy vs. Autocracy.”
