László Szerencsés wins Southeast Europe Association Dissertation Award

SUITS is delighted to announce that our postdoctoral researcher, László Szerencsés, has been awarded the Southeast Europe Association Dissertation Award in Leipzig, Germany. Defended at the University of Graz, his dissertation, "Limits of Transnational Authoritarianism: Turkish Foreign Policy in Kosovo and Serbia (2013-2020)", explores the role of local elites in shaping the success of authoritarian foreign policy.

The Southeast Europe Association (SOG) has been a cornerstone of Germany’s foreign cultural policy since 1952. Supported by Germany's Federal Foreign Office, SOG fosters academic, political, economic, and cultural exchange with Southeast Europe, strengthening ties and deepening understanding across the region.
