SUITS and UI co-hosts for 2nd Annual SWEMENA conference
On 24-25 August 2023, Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies (SUITS) and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) co-hosted the second annual conference of the Swedish Middle East and North Africa Network (SWEMENA).
The objective of the conference, and SWEMENA more broadly, is to bring together researchers, practitioners and policy makers across Sweden with an interest in the Middle East and North African regions. The steering group includes representatives from SIPRI, UI, and Gothenburg-, Malmö-, Lund-, and Stockholm Universities.
The keynote address featured SUITS’ professor Jenny White speaking on “Spindle Politics: the Turkish Case”. The two days included split panel sessions and roundtables as well as opportunities for more informal networking.
