The European Solar Telescope finally has a site. On May 21, the board of the Canarian observatories (CCI) approved that it can be built next to the SST at the Roque de los Muchachos observatory on La Palma. The site is approximately where the Dutch Open Telescope, DOT, is currently located. "This is an important step forward for the EST project. We are very much looking forward to see this great new telescope being built next to the SST", says Professor Jorrit Leenaarts, Director of the Institute for Solar Physics of Stockholm University.

The Institute for Solar Physics has been taking part in the preparation for the EST project since its beginning.
