The lipids study and their application to the human past.

Beskrivning
Over the last 40 years, the incorporation of the analysis of ancient biomolecules such as DNA, proteins and lipids to Archaeology have revolutionised our understanding of the human past.  The analysis of lipids can be particularly interesting in the study of human evolution due to their higher preservation potential, compared to DNA and proteins, particularly in arid and dry environments. These molecules encode information about the individuals life and disease, their diet, lifestyle and the environment.

During this talk, I will present an overview of useful applications of the study of lipids in archaeology and human evolution, and some preliminary results from a multiomic study of Pleistocene coprolites that encompasses lipids, DNA, proteomics and metabolomics.
