Minisymposium to honour Hans G. Boman

Professor Hans G. Boman headed an active and highly successful research group at Stockholm University between 1976 and 1997. Hans was a real pioneer in the field of innate immunity, using various insect models as experimental systems. To honour his substantial life achievements, the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute will host an afternoon symposium on December 3, on the ten-year anniversary of his passing. The event will take place in the Hans G. Boman lecture hall (formerly the G-lecture hall), Arrhenius laboratories, Svante Arrhenius väg 20C. Two invited speakers, Professors Bruno Lemaitre (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland) and Birgitta Agerberth (Department of Laboratory Medicine and Clinical Microbiology, Karolinska Institute, Sweden) will highlight advances in the field of insect immunity, an exciting research topic that has expanded greatly over the years. The results emanating from insect models have clear implications for our understanding of innate immunity in humans. As part of the symposium event, five collages created by Hans, and now part of the Stockholm University Art Collection, will be displayed for the first time hanging in their permanent location in the Hans G. Boman Lecture Hall. The symposium is open for all, so all are welcome to attend.

All welcome
