Nordforsk, together with the Academy of Finland, the Independent Research Fund Denmark, the Swedish Research Council and the Research Council of Norway, invites proposals for its call for interdisciplinary research projects under the Nordic Programme for Interdisciplinary Research. This aims to promote high-quality research that combines and integrates skills from multiple disciplines. Projects should combine at least two of three following disciplines:

  • life science;
  • physical sciences and engineering;
  • social sciences and humanities.

Consortia must include partners from research-performing organisations in at least three Nordic countries. The host institution must be a research-performing organisation based in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden. The project leader must be a qualified researcher at the host institution.

The total budget is approximately NOK 119 million. Grants are worth up to NOK 15m over up to four years and may cover research- and project-related costs as well as personnel, communication, travel and accommodation costs. Between eight and 12 projects will be funded. Consortia must provide a significant amount of own financing in addition to the grants.
