Normally, projects can be funded with up to 50.000 SEK, but, subject to a special motivation, up to 100.000 SEK can be granted. The pilot period comprises an initial sum of 1 mill SEK, and lasts until the full amount is spent or for a maximum of two years. A second call may also be opened.

The funding will be paid when the project starts. The final report needs to be submitted no later than 4 weeks after the end of the project. The decision concerning the allocation of the grants will be communicated by the Office for Research, Engagement and Innovation Services (REIS).

Purpose of the call

The main purpose of the call is to support projects which aim to create and test social innovations. A further purpose is to develop and improve the support system for social innovations.

Instructions

  • Who can apply?

Employees at Stockholm University are welcome to apply.

  • How can the grant be used?

The recipient of the grant can, for example, use the funding to buy out time at the department to develop their work on social innovations or participate in a series of seminars at OpenLab Sthlm (https://openlabsthlm.se). OpenLab provides opportunities to put ideas into practice and to test them, to study how they meet the needs of a target group and a current social challenge.

During the project, an innovation advisor at REIS will provide support and guidance. Overhead costs will not be compensated.

  • Assessment and prioritizing of applications

In order to assess the projects' innovation potential, their purpose, possible societal effect and feasibility will be examined. Particular emphasis will be put on the extent to which a project will be able to contribute to societal development.

  • Application process

Applicants must contact REIS to book an advisory meeting before application. An application not preceded by such a meeting will not be considered.

At the meeting with the innovation advisor at REIS the project idea and possible forms of support are discussed. If the idea suits the call, the applicant sends the completed application form to the advisor, who reviews the application and provides feedback if necessary. The application, signed by the applicant and their head of department, is then sent in original to REIS, see contact person below.

REIS prepares the applications for decisions by the relevant academic areas at Stockholm University.

Deadline

The deadline for applications is 15 Aug 2021 and notification about grant allocation will be made no later than 1 Oct 2021. Notification of the approval or rejection of applications is made by REIS.

Funded projects must be completed by 31 May 2022 and the final report must be completed by 30 June 2022.
