These support groups of researchers who want the time and resources to shape the direction of their future work, and lay the foundation for research that takes risks and pushes academic boundaries in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics. Projects must lead to a significant and sustainable research agenda that develop the careers of the people in research groups and build a diverse and collaborative research community.

Applications from established or emerging research groups working in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics are accepted. Research groups can be interdisciplinary or focused on a theme or issue. Each applicant must have a permanent, open-ended or long-term rolling contract, or the guarantee of one. There are no restrictions in terms or organisation size or location.

Funding is worth up to £1 million over three to five years.
