Communities affected by conflict often struggle to access resources, goods and services (RGS) and as such, opt to negotiate with armed actors. This study investigated why and how communities negotiate and what influences the outcome of negotiations, including an analysis of how humanitarian actors can assist in community-led negotiations.
The objective of this study is to better understand the choices that communities make and the techniques they employ to negotiate with armed actors for improvements in their access or protection conditions; and determine what added value, if any, humanitarian actors may offer to community-led negotiations.
The research seminar on Latin American studies is open to scholars interested in Latin American issues. It welcomes the presentation of papers from researchers and PhD students from different social science disciplines. The seminar takes place on Fridays 14:00 – 15:30 every second week (odd numbers) at the Library of the Institute of Latin American Studies (House B, Floor 5).
