Daniel Rodríguez Suárez – Guest Researcher visits NILAS Library
“Libraries like this one are invaluable for researchers. The care Stockholm University has shown in preserving these archives is extraordinary,”
During a recent research stay at the Nordic Institute of Latin American Studies (NILAS) library, historian Daniel Rodríguez Suárez expressed gratitude for the exceptional quality and preservation of its archives.
“Libraries like this one are invaluable for researchers. The care Stockholm University has shown in preserving these archives is extraordinary,” Rodríguez Suárez remarked.
Focusing on Central America and the Caribbean, particularly Cuba, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, he found rare documentation, out-of-print works, and a well-preserved collection of journals and institutional yearbooks. “The thematic breadth and historical depth of the collection, especially materials on Cuba, are unparalleled and nearly impossible to find outside the region,” he added.
Daniel Rodríguez Suárez is Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of Girona and Professor/Tutor at the National University of Distance Education, UNED. He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and a Master’s degree in Iberian and Ibero-American Studies from the Catholic University of Louvain (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven).
Degree in Political Science and Sociology and Degree in Geography and History from the UNED. Diploma in Teaching (University of Oviedo).
His areas of specialisation are contemporary history and Latin American politics, with an emphasis on Central America and Cuba. He is the author of several articles and books.
He is a guest scholar at the Department of Romance and Classical Studies at the Nordic Institute of Latin American Studies until January.
