In the first part of the talk I shall motivate a general framework principle for accounts of what makes a body of beliefs ‘about’ a particular thing. The principle brings out the significance for accounts of aboutness-fixing of the fact that justification is truth-conducive. In the second part of the talk I shall use the principle to develop an account of cases where the subject’s grasp of a description plays an aboutness-fixing role
