Abstract: In this paper, I argue that if we assume that political action consists of a message or is necessarily social, not all intentional omissions are political actions even if they were politically intended. This is because some intentional omissions are hardly intelligible as messages, their uptake cannot be secured and some of them do not happen in a social setting of any kind. Instead, I argue that a political action is an intentional action or omission that somehow belongs to a shared social setting and has a political intention or a political context, or both.
