Om mig

I am an evolutionary biologist, with a broad interest in sexual selection. My PhD research focuses on how female multiple mating behaviour influences the evolution of reproductive traits. When females mate with multiple males in a single reproductive cycle, ejaculates from rival males must compete to fertilise the available ova, which imposes a strong selective pressure. I use comparative methods to examine how sperm competition shapes testes size and structure, sperm morphology and genital morphology in elasmobranchs (sharks and rays), a basal vertebrate group displaying a high level of variation in female remating frequency and a diverse range of reproductive systems and structures.
