Om mig

My current research is focused on natural genetic and phenotypic variation in Saccharomyces cervisiae.

I completed my PhD in Microbiology and Biotechnology in the joint research unit « Sciences for Oenology » (French National Institute for Agricultural Research, France), in parnership with different enterprises. During my PhD, my objective was to isolate and characterize strains at the molecular level for biotechnological applications. I used a genetic approach involving a QTL mapping based on the fermentation capacity in conditions of nutritions deficiency and identified different allelics variants can be exploited as markers for the selection of strains with good fermentation capacity.

Then I obtained a grant awarded by CONICYT and completed my training in the University of Santiago in Chile in the Department of Food Science and Technology. During these years I have exploited yeast diversity to understand the environmental impact on the evolution in an oenological context. During my post-doc, I contributed to several research projects on yeast dynamic metabolism, particularly  nitrogen pathway consumption and aromas production.
